Our Schedule
TEARS AND RAINBOWS: Noah’s Story
August 15th through September 12th
Children will journey into God’s heart for creation and learn of God’s tears and grief for human sin. Children will also learn how God creates a new covenant that sets limits for living
This unit includes Game, Bible Knowledge, Video, and Art workshops.
BEGINNING A JOURNEY OF FAITH: The Story of Abraham and Sarah
September 19th through October17th
By trusting in God's promises, Abraham shows children how they can lead a faithful and obedient life. Through a big floor game children journey with Abraham and experience his obedience and faithfulness. A special "What's in the box?" activity helps children learn to trust and to act on their faith. A no-script drama helps them understand that life offers many choices and these choices can be made by being faithful and trusting in God. Throughout the unit, the children will also understand that God is faithful and keeps God's promises.
This unit includes Computer, Game, Bible Knowledge, Video, and Art workshops.
FIGHTS, FAITH AND FAMILY FEUDS: Isaac, Jacob and Esau
October 24th through November 21st
Does your family function as God intended it? Don't worry; Jacob and Esau's family didn't either! All families -- from then and now -- have issues. The children will examine family issues such as hard feelings, lies, conflict resolution and trust and realize that God can help with their family relationships. This rotational unit is not just for kids. The focus is on the family -- then and now.
This unit includes Game, Bible Knowledge, Drama, and Art workshops.
THE CHILD OF PROMISE: Jesus' Birth
November28th through January 2nd
Children will learn several stories showing Jesus’ way for reaching out to outcasts and sinners. In addition, children will learn how the Spirit moves in their lives to show the same love Jesus showed to those who are “outcasts” in their school or neighborhood. Children will be challenged to ask the question, What Would Jesus Do? Through their experiences in the workshops, children have the opportunity to know what Jesus means when he said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me.”
This unit includes Game, Bible Knowledge, Video, and Art workshops.
What Is Rotational Sunday School?
In a rotational setting, the same Bible story or theme is taught for several weeks. Each week, children rotate to a different learning station. The story remains the same, but the children encounter it in different ways in each station. Repetition is an important part of the rotation approach. The more ways children explore a story or concept the more it is reinforced in their memories. The variety of experiences keeps interest high throughout the unit. Teachers teach the same lesson, with age-level adjustments, for the length of the rotation. Rotational learning is exciting for students and teachers alike, as teachers teach to their strengths and students experience Bible stories in ways they learn best.
Our Classrooms
Garden of Eden
Not your average craft sticks, markers and paper...in this room children relate to the Bible story using art! Our art room is overflowing with all the supplies a creative mind can handle. This is also where children eat and prepare food as an illustration of the Bible story. Sometimes they even participate in fun, scientific experiments. The only thing more creative than the decor is the teaching staff! | Acts Playhouse
This is where we listen to a storyteller (in first person) or watch a puppet show and experience activities related to the Bible story. Children interpret the Bible story through physical activities and games. This is a popular room because children can express themselves through acting, wearing "Bible Times" costumes, using props and playing musical instruments! Our drama room even has it's own dressing area, stage, stage lights, sound system, and bench seating! |
Ark.com
This workshop is a hands down favorite with kids! Here, children discover Bible skills while using the kid-safe software to learn and interpret the Bible story. Children also experience the geography of the Bible as they walk in the sandals of both old and new testament characters. Our internet-free environment allows them to learn what is happening in the world today, with an emphasis on church missions, in a distraction-free setting. | Holy Word Theatre
In this room, children explore the Bible story by watching a video followed by discussion time and our very own version of Bible Jeopardy. This is also the home of our media production class where we create our own videos. Kids are drawn to this workshop because we serve popcorn and have a large screen with theater-style seating!! |
